2023-24 School Calendar Options

The Bryant School Board adopted two alternative calendars for the 2023-2024 school year: one with an August 14 start date and one with an August 21 start date.

Why two calendars? Current state law does not allow school districts to start school prior to two weeks before Labor Day. For the 23-24 school year, the earliest start date would be August 21. There is strong support across the state to move to an earlier start date. For the 23-24 school year, this would mean the start date would be August 14. To provide planning options for our families and employees, the Board pro-actively approved both calendars which include either start date.

A bill has been filed that will change the start date to what was previously, the Monday of the week of August 19. For 2023, the date is August 14. The bill passed unanimously through the House side of the legislature on Monday, January 23. It will now go to the Senate. We feel confident that it will be passed by the Senate and signed by the Governor.

If the bill passes, our approved calendar will be the August 14 start date.

We hope to inform you of the final calendar by the middle of next week. If the bill does not pass, the calendar with the August 21 start date will be followed.

Once we have the final school start date, we will provide more information about important dates for next school year.
