Parkway Elementary has been honored with the SupportMusic Merit Award from the NAMM Foundation, recognizing the school’s outstanding commitment to music education. This national award is given to individual schools that demonstrate exceptional achievement in providing students with access to high-quality music instruction.
At the heart of Parkway’s music program is educator Darla Corral, whose passion and dedication ensure that every student from kindergarten through fifth grade experiences the joy of making music. From interactive classroom lessons to lively performances, Parkway students explore music through singing, dancing, and playing instruments throughout the school year.
These experiences come to life in the school’s performances. Students have proudly showcased their talents at various grade-level events, including the heartfelt 3rd grade Veterans Day Program, which honored our nation’s heroes. The holiday musical, Christmas at the OK Corral, was a fun and festive production that blended holiday cheer with a Wild West twist. The performance not only entertained families but also reflected the musical growth and teamwork developed in Parkway’s music program under Mrs. Corral’s guidance.
Another of the school’s musical events, Celebrate the Arts Night, features an instrument petting zoo, giving students the chance to try out a variety of musical instruments. The Parkway Elementary Choir performed six times throughout the year, including special appearances at the Arkansas State Capitol and the Saline Symphony Orchestra Christmas Concert.
“Earning the SupportMusic Merit Award is a proud achievement for Parkway Elementary and Bryant Public Schools,” said Dr. Karen Walters, Superintendent. “This recognition highlights our commitment to providing outstanding music and fine arts opportunities for all students. Darla Corral has built an exceptional program, and this honor reflects her dedication and the impact of music education on our students’ growth and success.”
