medals

Six Bryant High School students competed at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held June 23–27 in Atlanta, Georgia, representing the state of Arkansas.

The television production team of Matthew Anderson, Jerrod Barber, Taylor Dischinger, and Chelsea Jensen earned second place in the Video News Production category. This is the second medal for the state of Arkansas in this category since the competition began in 2005 and the first during an in-person event. The only other medal, also a silver, was awarded to Cave City High School in 2021 during a virtual competition. This was the fourth consecutive year the Hornet Media TV Production program, led by instructor Michael Westbrook, qualified for nationals.

Graphic Design students Kaylee Anderson and Ivana Wang also participated in the national conference. Anderson placed 9th out of 40 competitors in Advertising Design. Wang placed 16th out of 41 entries in T-Shirt Design. The Graphic Design program is led by instructor Lindsay Fell, who was named Arkansas SkillsUSA Advisor of the Year in April. This marks the second consecutive year graphic design students from Bryant have qualified in multiple categories.

All six students qualified for the national competition by earning first place in their respective categories at the Arkansas state convention in April.
