The Arkansas Department of Education has announced the Top 15 finalists for the 2026 Arkansas Teacher of the Year, and Elaina Weaver, a 6th grade math teacher at Bethel Middle School, has been selected to represent Bryant Public Schools at the state level.
Weaver, the districtβs 2025 Teacher of the Year, will be recognized alongside other finalists at a ceremony at the Governorβs Mansion on July 28. Each finalist will receive a certificate and a $1,000 award from the Walton Family Foundation.
Mrs. Weaver brings math to life for her students, helping them build confidence, curiosity, and practical thinking skills. She is a leader both in the classroom and across the districtβdeveloping instructional tools, leading professional teams, and mentoring fellow educators with dedication and heart.
βWe are so proud of Elaina,β said Dr. Karen Walters, Superintendent of Bryant Public Schools. βWeβve always known the impact she has on our students and staff, and itβs exciting to see her recognized at the state level.β
In a press release from the Arkansas Department of Education, Secretary Jacob Oliva stated:
βI am proud of the finalists for their dedication to the profession and student learning. Those selected represent some of the best of the best in the teaching profession, and I look forward to learning from them.β
The Arkansas Teacher of the Year program honors outstanding educators across the state for their teaching and leadership. Semi-finalists will be announced during the July 28 event, with the 2026 Arkansas Teacher of the Year to be named this fall. That individual will then apply for National Teacher of the Year.
