Inclusive Communication Boards

Thanks to a generous donation from Arvest Bank, Bryant Public Schools is taking another meaningful step to ensure every student feels seen, heard, and included. Through this partnership, the donated inclusive communication boards will be installed on every elementary playground across the district, with an additional board placed at the PreK campus.

As a Special Olympics Unified School District, Bryant Public Schools is committed to fostering a culture of respect, support, and meaningful inclusion. These new communication boards bring that commitment to life, creating spaces where all students can connect and engage—especially during unstructured times like recess.

Each board features symbols and simple, easy-to-understand language that allow children to express their needs, feelings, and ideas. With just a point, students can communicate words and phrases such as “help,” “my turn,” or “swing,” making interaction immediate and accessible. The boards empower students to initiate play, make choices, and build relationships with peers more independently.

By bridging communication gaps, the boards also promote empathy and understanding among students, helping to create a more inclusive playground experience. They transform these spaces into environments where every child can participate, contribute, and feel a true sense of belonging.

At the heart of this initiative is a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves the opportunity to communicate and be part of their community. Thanks to Arvest Bank’s generosity, Bryant’s playgrounds will be more than just places to play—they will be places where every voice can be heard.
