For National Principals Month, we’re celebrating what it means to Experience Bryant through the eyes of our principals—the people, connections, and opportunities that make each school special.
Meet Jason Hay, who leads a Bryant High School community of more than 2,200 students and nearly 200 staff members. He shares what makes BHS a special place to learn, work, and be a Hornet.
What makes your campus special to you?
The students and staff are what make Bryant High School so special to me. BHS is more than just where I work. It has been a big part of my life and my family’s life. It is where I started my career as a coach and teacher, and it is where my two sons received a first-class education from some truly amazing teachers. I have had the opportunity to experience Bryant High School as an educator, a parent, and now as principal, which makes this school and the people in it incredibly special to me.
What is your favorite school tradition?
One of my favorite school traditions is seeing our high school students return to our elementary schools to give back, just like high school students did for them when they were younger. Whether they are reading to a classroom, volunteering at field days, serving as student interns, participating in senior walks, or sharing team meals, I love seeing our students give back to the schools and teachers who helped them along the way. It is a great reminder of what makes Bryant such a special community.
What is something your students do that makes you proud?
I am incredibly proud of how passionate our students are about helping one another and making a difference in our school and community. They are always looking for ways to serve, support others, and make Bryant High School a better place. I see it every day in the hallways, in the classroom, on the athletic field, in our fine arts programs, and through our clubs and organizations. Not a day goes by that I am not amazed by what our students are able to accomplish and the positive impact they have on those around them.
What do you enjoy most about leading your school?
What I enjoy most about Bryant High School is the people. I get to come to work every day and serve the best students and staff in the state of Arkansas. I am proud to be part of a school where people genuinely care about one another, work hard, and strive to be the best every single day. Being able to support our students and staff, build relationships with them, and celebrate their successes is what makes working at Bryant High School so rewarding.
