During National Principals Month, we’re celebrating what it means to Experience Bryant through the eyes of our principals.
For Dr. Lindsey McBride, principal of Parkway Elementary, the school’s strength is its people. Students from diverse backgrounds and cultures come together through shared values of kindness and respect, supported by educators committed to helping every child learn.
What makes your campus special to you?
Parkway is a special school because of the students and adults that occupy it. We have students from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures, but they all come together so beautifully. No matter what language our students speak, kindness and respect are values we all hold.
Share one thing you want families to know about your school this year.
All students learn at Parkway. We have an amazing team of educators that show up each day ready to do whatever it takes to make sure our students find success.
Where is a place on campus you love?
One place I love to be is at the bottom of the main staircase at the end of the day. This is the unspoken gathering place of the PES Team. Teachers meet at that location to laugh and debrief the day's events. If you need a hug, you can find it there. If I need to check on the well-being and morale of the team, I can do it there. You can sit on the steps or stand, but you can't be out there alone. We are all in this together!
What do you enjoy most about leading your school?
I love the students and staff at Parkway! I really feel like I am just one of the team members doing my part to help students learn and grow. I have hired great people so the work is fun. I have the opportunity to sit in meetings where passionate professionals make action plans to ensure students have their learning needs met. I visit classrooms where students are learning skills that will help them in the future. I seek to understand and advocate for students that are facing hard situations. I have the power to make elementary school something our students look back on and appreciate in the future. I don't take that responsibility lightly. I have the greatest job in the world!
