Two Bryant High School students, Aaron Dean Garcia and Emma Bradshaw Parker, have been named National Merit Semifinalists.
These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will
be offered next spring.
Aaron is the son of Radeanna Garcia and Andy Garcia. He has attended Bryant Schools since
first grade. Aaron plans to attend the University of Arkansas, where he is considering the
Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences. Aaron credits the district with providing “wonderful
teachers that guided me in taking advanced classes. I also had the opportunity to become
involved in several academic extracurriculars that I enjoy.”
Emma, daughter of Amy Lamb and Jim Parker, joined Bryant Public Schools in 5th grade at Hill
Farm. Emma is still exploring Columbia University and the University of Chicago. Although she
hasn’t yet chosen a major, she is considering the humanities. Emma said, “Bryant offers a wide
range of advanced academic courses where I was able to challenge myself.”
“On behalf of the entire faculty and staff of Bryant High School, we are very proud of our
semifinalists, Aaron and Emma,” said Principal Todd Edwards. “These two have bright futures
ahead and we look forward to the great things they will accomplish.”
