Bryant families, we share this information so you can be informed of upcoming changes to school meals during the 2022-23 school year.
The federal USDA waiver that allows school districts to provide meals at no cost to all students is set to expire on June 30, 2022. Unless the USDA extends the federal waiver for the upcoming school year, families who do not qualify for free or reduced price meals can expect to resume paying full-price for school meals.
Some Students Will Still Qualify, But You Must Apply
We understand this change may cause a financial impact for many of our families. If your student qualifies for free or reduced meals, they can still receive them next year, but you will need to apply to be considered for the program. If you are concerned that you may not be able to afford school meal prices, we urge you to fill out an application for free or reduced meal benefits. Income eligibility guidelines are available online.
To apply, complete the 2022-23 application for Free and Reduced Meals. The online application will be available on the district’s website (bryantschools.org) on July 1. Paper applications are available at any school or the Food Service office.
Meal Prices
Currently, the district is experiencing food costs at record increases. To help offset some of these costs, meal prices will slightly increase for the 2022-23 school year.
Student Breakfast: $2.00
Elementary Lunch: $3.00 (PreK-5th grade)
Secondary Lunch: $3.25 (Grades 6-12)
Adult Breakfast: $3.00
Adult Lunch: $4.35
We know the free meals for all students have been a welcome relief during the COVID-19 pandemic and we sympathize with parents about the upcoming change. If Congress passes a bill to continue the free meals, Bryant Public Schools will certainly participate. If it does not pass, we wanted to be sure to allow our families time to plan accordingly.
