Tomorrow is the big day for our kindergarteners! Our blended teachers, Mrs. Broach, Mrs. Walsh and Ms. McLaren, have worked hard to prepare a fun, inviting classroom that makes each child feel special and loved. Please say your goodbyes and give hugs and kisses in the car. Our staff will be at the front of the school to open car doors, welcome our new friends to our school, and escort them to their classrooms.
Our virtual friends will be greeted on their screen by Ms. Fricke who has some surprises up her sleeve, too!
It is going to be a great day for all HCES Kindergarten students!

Tomorrow is a BIG day for our LITTLE Hornets. To help you and your child have a great start, all kindergarten students will begin school at 9am on Thursday.

Today was a great first day of school! Both virtual and blended learning had a few bumps, but overall it was a great start to the year. Teachers and students were so ready to see each other, as we have been apart far too long. This year looks different from past years, but our teachers are working day and night to make the learning experience as smooth as possible. Those of you who chose the virtual learning option, please show us grace as we adjust to the virtual learning environment and all of the platforms we are now using. It takes time to get passwords set, and help you and your student become familiar with these platforms. Your child's teacher wants this to go well, so patience and kindness go a long way.
For those who chose the blended learning option, thank you for sending your child with a mask and water bottle. Every child had such a positive attitude today! We are working on the CurbSmart system for car riders. I appreciate your patience - we hope to have it running more smoothly tomorrow. Please make sure your child's teacher has updated contact information, so they can reach you with classroom information and updates.
If today is any indication of what the year will be like, then we are in for a wonderful school year! Thank you for your partnership.

Principal

Flashing Red Lights means students are getting on or off the bus. It is illegal to pass a bus from ANY direction when the red lights are flashing. Make safety a top priority. #FlashingRedKidsAhead

Virtual Parents,
The time is drawing near; the first day of virtual school is almost here! Learning will look different for your student this semester/year, as they will not be with us on campus. But, know they are still a very important member of our school community.
You should have received an email from your child's virtual teacher with directions and instructions on logging in to class each day, and how learning will take place. See the accompanying flier for information that you need to know. For your convenience, I have highlighted the main points in bold.
Please reach out to me with any questions at jvergason@bryantschools.org, or call the office at 501-652-1012.
This is going to be a great year of learning! We are ALL IN this together. Please join us in using our new hashtag # ALLIN
Thank you,

Will your student be an afternoon car rider? If so, you'll want to read about CurbSmart. CurbSmart numbers will be distributed at Hurricane Creek on Thursday, August 20 from 12:00 to 4:00. Drive to the front entrance of the school, where our staff will be waiting to present you with your CurbSmart Number. This will go on the visor of your car, for a seamless after-school pick up!
What is CurbSmart?
Elementary schools will have new procedures for afternoon car pickup. Schools will be using the Curb Smart system to manage car lines while helping students stay safe. To maintain social distancing and keep groups together, students will stay in their classrooms rather than wait in front of the school.
Parents will be assigned a number to be displayed on a car tag. Staff members will digitally input the number, which will automatically post to screens in each classroom. Students will then be escorted to the waiting vehicle.
We expect the new process to be much faster, more efficient, and safer for our Hornets.
Parents (Grades 1-5) should pick up new car tags at their zoned school on Thursday, August 20 from 12-4pm. Each school will message specifics for pickup.
Kindergarten parents will receive car tags on Monday or Tuesday during assessment.
Questions? Please contact your school.

We are excited to release Hurricane Creek Elementary's Open House Video for all of our students, parents and community members to enjoy! Since we are unable to meet you on our campus this year, we decided to send you a personal message from each teacher and staff member.
The video is interactive, as you will scroll down the Home Page to see two short videos about drop off and pick procedures, as well as mask and safety procedures. Then, Depending on your device (phone, ipad, Mac, Chromebook, etc) the video may have headings at the top of the page, or have an expandable menu bar to the side . Nevertheless, you will click on the heading or tab to see a list of the grade level departments, office staff, etc. From there, click on a Bitmoji (cartoon character) to see a video of each teacher or staff member.
We can't wait to get this year started!
