New Gate System at BHS

Beginning Monday, February 26, the gates entering Parking Lot B on the Bryant High School campus (located on T-Wood Way near the tennis courts) will be locked during the school day between the hours of 8:15am and 2:45pm. The gate is on a key card access system for entry and motion detection system for exit.

Students will enter Lot B through the electronic gate. The gate will be automated to allow students to park each morning and leave each afternoon. Gates will close at 8:15am and reopen at 2:45pm on regular school days. To enter the lot between 8:15am and 2:45pm, students will use their ID badge. Students who do not have a badge will need to park in Lot A or C. Students who park in Lot A, E or D will continue to check in at the office if they arrive late.

A call box will be used for scheduled visitors to the Athletic Office. All other visitors will still be expected to check in at the main high school office in Building 10. Signs will be posted with instructions.

IRON FENCING HELPS SECURE BRYANT HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS
The district’s Strategic Plan prioritizes physical safety for all students and staff. Our school safety team is always at work evaluating and planning improvements to safety and security measures.

As one of the largest high schools in the state, the Bryant High School campus is extensive. While the newer facilities have been designed to help contain movement between buildings, open access to the campus is a concern, especially in parking areas.

In order to create a more enclosed campus, iron fencing was installed around a large portion of the perimeter. The district received approximately $430,000 in funds from the state designated for safety purposes, which funded a large portion of the first phase of the project.

The first phase included fencing from Building 1 to the tennis courts. Manual and powered gates have been added to help address foot and vehicle traffic between the courtyard area of Building 10 down to Hornet Stadium. Lot B will be closed to visitors during the school day.
