hornet media

Congratulations to Bryant High School’s Hornet Media! The student broadcast program received the Student Television Network’s 2023-2024 Broadcast Excellence award in the Sports Show category for The Hornet Nest, a program created by the TV Sports Production class and their teacher Michael Westbrook.

Hornet Media received national honors in all four of the categories entered:

  • High School Sports Show (Broadcast Excellence)

  • High School Weekly News Show (Outstanding Achievement - Top 25)

  • High School Podcast (Outstanding Achievement - Top 25)

  • High School Monthly Show (Distinguished Merit - Top 35)

The Hornet Nest sports show is produced by Senior Nevaeh Suit and serves as a hub of all Hornet sports news. It is one of only three schools in the nation to receive the Broadcast Excellence award. This is the program’s second award for Broadcast Excellence in its three years of existence. In 2022, the monthly show, The Bryant Buzz also received the honor.

Also among the program’s achievements are four awards by the Student Production Awards from the National Academy of Television Mid-America Chapter (the same organization that awards the professional Emmy’s). This chapter consists of schools from a five state region including Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, and Missouri.

  • Newscast: Hornet News Now (Episode 4) produced by Nevaeh Suit

  • Sports Show: The Hornet Nest (Episode 1) produced by Nevaeh Suit

  • On-Air Talent: Chelsea Jensen

We are #BryantProud of these students and teacher Michael Westbrook for representing our school and community so well.
