Due to flooding, the City of Alexander has closed Brookwood. If your child’s normal bus stop is at Brookwood and Lindsey, TODAY the students will be picked up at Don Parker and Brookwood.
On Saturday, April 22, Bryant High School will host the inaugural Arkansas Jazz Education State Jazz Festival in Love Auditorium. Jazz ensembles from around the state will be performing for a panel of judges for ratings and other recognitions. Concerts are free to the public.

Bryant High School instructor Brenda Qualls has been named one of five finalists for the Arkansas Computer Science Educator of the Year. Mrs. Qualls has worked to create an outstanding computer science program for our Hornets! #BryantProud

In a surprise announcement this morning, Kass Seidenschnur was named 2022-23 Bryant Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Seidenschnur is the Library Media Specialist at Hurricane Creek Elementary. Congratulations!

Bryant High School graphic design students competed at the 2022-2023 Arkansas SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference in the areas of advertising design, t-shirt design, and pin design. SkillsUSA is a national career and technical student organization serving more than 395,000 high school, college and middle school students and professional members enrolled in training programs in trade, technical and skilled occupations.
Congratulations to Anna Rogers and Hayden Knowlton for placing second and third place in their individual competitions! Lindsay Fell is the graphic design instructor.

Bryant & Bauxite FBLA chapters are hosting a yard sale to benefit Civitan Services on Saturday, April 22, 8am-2pm, at the Civitan Shoppe located on Reynolds Road.
Donations for the yard sale may be dropped off at Bryant High School from 2-6pm on Sunday, April 16 and from 4:30-8pm the week of April 17-21. All items donated will be sold at the yard sale, and all proceeds will benefit Civitan Services.


The Bryant School Board is pleased to announce the hiring of Jana Catlett as the incoming ESL Coordinator. Mrs. Catlett will begin her new position with Bryant on July 1, 2023.
Jana Catlett is currently with Dawson Education Cooperative as the Southwest Regional English Learner Specialist, serving 53 school districts and three other education cooperatives for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Before this role, she worked in the Pulaski County Special School District as a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade teacher. Most recently she taught 5th grade and served her district as the building ESL Facilitator and Little Rockers Little Rock Marathon Runnin’ Wolves Coach at Lake Hamilton.
Jana is a board member of the Live Like Bryce Foundation and enjoys volunteering with local charitable organizations. She graduated from ASU and received her Master’s Degree from HSU. Jana grew up a proud Fordyce Redbug and is very excited to, once again, be a pesky little creature full of BIG FIGHT as a Bryant Hornet.

The Bryant School Board is pleased to announce the hiring of Clint Hoover as the new Assistant Maintenance Director beginning July 1, 2023.
Mr. Hoover began his employment with Bryant Schools as a Journeyman Plumber in 2012 before attaining his Master Plumber certification in 2017. He also has extensive experience in project management, inventory, budgeting and facilities.
We are thankful to have a team member with his leadership skills and experience helping to lead our Maintenance Department.

Paraprofessionals, also known as paras, assist teachers in classrooms. They may work with students on enrichment activities, either in small groups or one-on-one. They help students complete assignments or practice reading. Paraprofessionals often work with students with special education needs and a variety of disabilities. They may also supervise students outside of classrooms and help teachers with clerical work.

The Bryant School Board is pleased to announce the hiring of Clint Shadwick as the incoming Assistant Athletic Director. Mr. Shadwick will begin his new position on July 1, 2023.
Mr. Shadwick served as principal of Bryant Middle School for three years (2019-2022). In 2016 he was hired as assistant principal at BMS. He was a history instructor at Bethel Middle and served as assistant football and soccer coach at Bryant High School. He spent the last year as a Business Development Manager with Apptegy.
Mr. Shadwick said, “I am so excited to be returning to the Bryant School District as the Assistant Athletic Director. My educational career started as a teacher and coach so I understand the importance athletics plays in the overall education for all student athletes. I missed everyone at Bryant and feel very blessed to have this opportunity!”

The Bryant School Board is pleased to announce the hiring of Donaven Sims as the incoming Bethel Middle School principal. Mr. Sims will begin his new role on July 1, 2023.
Mr. Sims has worked for Bryant Public Schools for 18 years. He served as a principal at Salem Elementary for seven years. Under his leadership, Salem was recognized as a High Growth School and was named a Capturing Kids’ Heart Showcase School. Mr. Sims was named the AAESP Elementary Principal of the Year for 2022.
He was assistant principal at Collegeville Elementary for four years. Prior to entering administration, Mr. Sims was a teacher and coach at Bethel Middle School for six years, at Bryant Middle for one year, and in the North Little Rock School District for one year.
Mr. Sims says, “I am excited to be coming to Bethel Middle School next year. I feel like it is one of the best schools in our state and I can’t wait to work with the students, teachers and staff and families to continue that strong tradition of excellence.”

The Bryant School Board is pleased to announce the hiring of Shannon Williams as the incoming Hurricane Creek Elementary principal. Mrs. Williams will begin her new role on July 1, 2023.
Mrs. Williams has been a leader in Bryant Schools since joining the district in 2016. She taught four years at Robert L. Davis Elementary and obtained her Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership in May of 2020. During the 2020-21 school year, she served as Building Learning Specialist at Hill Farm Elementary School. In July 2021 she was hired as Assistant Principal at HCES.
Mrs. Williams is ecstatic about transitioning to the role of Building Principal at Hurricane Creek Elementary where she has served as Assistant Principal for the last two years. She loves her students, staff, and parents and cannot wait to lead HCE as they continue their move towards EXCELLENCE!
