Advanced Placement courses begin in 9th grade and are offered to any student who accepts the challenge! These courses are often chosen by GT students because they allow students to earn college credit by exam.

This week is #GTAwarenessWeek and we’re sharing some of the ways our staff provide enrichment to students to extend their learning.
Students in grades 6-12 who are identified as GT qualify for Honors and Accelerated courses. English and Social Studies Honors classes provide differentiation in content, pace, and product. Math and science classes are accelerated so students cover more standards in a year.

For #GTAwarenessWeek we’re exploring some of the enrichment activities and programs our students receive in Bryant Schools!
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who are evaluated and identified for gifted services receive those services in a GT resource room with a GT certified teacher. There, students build reasoning skills, practice problem-solving, and participate in creative activities as an extension of their regular learning.

Students in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades are taught creative thinking during LEAP time. Lessons that focus on reasoning and creativity are our students’ first exposures to GT.

Bryant Jr. High’s 8th Grade Quiz Bowl team placed 3rd at the 7A Arkansas Governors Quiz Bowl Association Jr. High State Tournament this weekend. These students work to memorize facts and improve their problem-solving speeds all year for this competition of knowledge and skill.
Congratulations to team members Brayden Rowe, Gavin Mcmanigal, Leo Lin, Kingston Mitchell, Kahlan Higgins, and Ayden Tucker on their win. And a special thanks and congratulations to Coach Amanda Bradley for her work with both Jr. High Quiz Bowl teams!
There were some individual wins this weekend as well! These students were named to the All Star Team: Captain Brayden Rowe (8th), Captain Charlie Denton (9th), and Caleb Ford (9th).

Bryant Mayor Rhonda Sanders issued a proclamation acknowledging February 11-16 as national FBLA Week in the City of Bryant. Mayor Sanders presented the proclamation to FBLA President Maricka Farr stating, “Strong business leaders are the future of our community.”
The group attended Future Friday at Arkansas Tech, a day for FBLA members to learn important life skills necessary for life after high school. They also had the opportunity to practice for their state competitions. Cheryl Harrell serves as the FBLA adviser. #FBLAWeek24

TRANSPORTATION NOTICE 2/14/24: Due to an emergency closure at Shobe Road over the next several days, buses will be taking alternate routes. This may cause a slight delay in the time students are picked up in the mornings and arrive home in the afternoons.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) students from BJHS, BMS, and BeMS FBLA competed at the District IV FBLA Middle Level Conference on February 8. All officer positions for District IV ML are now occupied by Bryant School District students. Congratulations to these student leaders!
President - Lucy Calhoun (BJHS), Vice President - Kahlan Higgins (BJHS), Secretary - Raeleigh DeVito (BMS), Treasurer - Braxton Fee (BMS), and Reporter - Liricka Farr (BJHS).


REMINDER: All students will be dismissed early next Thursday, February 15, for Secondary (6-12th grade) Parent Teacher Conferences. Elementary conferences are scheduled for March 14.
